The thing is that person was far creative than any of us. While we know that cotton can be turned into fabrics to keep us warm we, at least I am, are clueless as to how to actually do it. But that person was creative enough to make it happen thousands of years ago and he had to create the tools to make it happen. I would still be wearing animal pelts.
