Racism itself hasn’t gone anywhere, although especially in the South people seem less proud of it and now want to hide the most egregious aspects of this country’s racist past—while maintaining overall white supremacy, in more subtle ways, of course.

Personally , I’m convinced that they’re just waiting out the generations who saw the worst of it firsthand. Once we all die off, they figure they can pretend that Margaret Mitchell’s vision and Disney’s "Song of The South" were the way things actually were. 😞
