I Want Recognition of the Armenian Genocide

It's Time for the U.S. to Recognize the Armenian Genocide

--- By Becky Romero ---

Why did Calvin Coolidge show infinitely more courage than Barack Obama has re: Turkey's genocide of Armenians?

As a Democrat who believes strongly in human rights I am appalled at President Barack Obama's indifference to the Armenian genocide that took place in the early part of the 20th century.

As a Democrat, I am embarrassed for my party that one of the most conservative presidents the country has ever had, Calvin Coolidge, showed infinitely more courage in acknowledging the Armenian genocide than Barack Obama.

President Calvin Coolidge even posed for photos with a rug woven by Armenian orphans of Turkey's genocidal policies. The rug was given to him as a Christmas present.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama refused to allow the Smithsonian to even display the tapestry, lest it offend the Islamic Government of Turkey!

Government stays for the moment when they need to drive Turkey into a corner. It's a political trump card against Turkey, and will be used when it is needed. Not for this time. Other Countries use this Armenian card when they want Turkey do something for their benefit. And

1st you must not claim something you don't really know about. There was no genocide. It was a relocation. And the events occurred after an Armenian rebellion. Before 1915 Armenians killed many Turks during that rebellion and fight for Russia during the war. The extinction history of events since Ottoman - Russian battle 1877. Own citizens of Ottoman Empire started to fight for Russia who are Armenian. My grand father's father and mother and his brothers killed at this rebellion. Because attack hadn't come directly from Russian army. They attacked from inside by Armenians to weaken Ottoman power. Those knowledge are not coming from the western history books. It was listened from many 1st mouth who witnessed the events by me. Of course there was a battle to suppress the rebellion by Ottoman army and rebels were killed by army. Some historical records prove that there were Armenian civilians were dead like it happens at every war too but that's all not the millions maybe thousand.

2nd We should not claim something about where we can't show it on the map. Those events were occurred mostly on east Turkey. Kars, Erzurum, Muş, Van. I've visited all those cities. On this area and many Turkish tombs, graveyards who killed by Armenian rebellion at 1914 and 1913. What would your government do ?

3rd Turkey is not an Islamic state. Turkey is a republic that established by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk which was one and only (still even though conservative party on administration) secular government on middle east. First country before Europe and your own gives the right woman to vote and to be elected.

4rd there is a terrorist lives in the US Fetullah Gülen. His group tried coup in Turkey to make us an Islamic State like Iran. Coupe failed by civillians. Turkey asks the terrorist's return to Turkey but your brilliant presidents don't give him back. Guess who really wants to leave NATO now. However the US wants Turkey to stay with NATO rather than to stay with Russia.

@FelixLegion If I could, I'd swap out Turkey for Ukraine in NATO.
