It is believed by many that the term Black Friday derives from the concept that businesses operate at a financial loss, or are “in the red,” until the day after Thanksgiving, when massive sales finally allow them to turn a profit, or put them “in the black.” So, if anything, it's actually a positive connotation and not a derogatory one.

Because it's to do with financial terms. Anyone trying to make it a "thing" is probably saying more about themselves then a financial term

I think the people or organizations have not thought about it yet. It will be next. They also failed to realize that a black cat symbolizes bad luck, also a white towel sale.

The term "Black Friday" has always been in financial reference to small business ownership. 'Black' refers to an Accountant's balance sheet showing the business to now be operating in the black (black ink), versus operating in the red (red ink), otherwise known as a 'loss' when red ink is used on a balance sheet.

It's usually the last month of the year where any small business finally turns a profit after operating at a loss for most of the year.

The only people who attach a Racist connotation to the term "Black Friday" are those who associate the color 'black' with a human Race.
