A Request to. All Americans

A message to all Americans:
Regardless of what side of the political spectrum you reside, let's agree on 1 thing.
Demand that when the day comes and this DC trial begins, it must be televised live from start to finish.
Why is this important? It will allow every American to see and hear every word spoken and every action taken. It will remove the media from the equation and any bias that may come in their reporting of this important event that would be closed from public view.

We The People deserve to see this trial. The result will decide the fate of our democracy, the republic, and the rule of law.

I am asking you to contact Chief Justice John Roberts and demand that he allow this trial to be seen by the American people live and unedited from start to finish.

Update: Many have asked what must be done in order to have the trial televised. I have done some additional research and have found that: Justice Roberts could rule to allow cameras in the courtroom...or Congress could pass a law to allow cameras to be present, called the Sunshine in the Courtroom Act of 2023, which was written by several Senators from both sides. ....or the Judicial Conference could change the rules to allow cameras in.

Again, please let your voice be heard.

Justice Roberts has no intention in getting involved no matter what. Most especially since this is "public" pressure on the supreme court.

That is contraire to his own publicly known beliefs. He is for states rights, not individual rights. He considers this country a "republic" just as the constitution says, barring specific amendments.

He did not rule in favor of any of Trump's attempts because that is public pressure on the supreme court.

I don't like Robert's much at all. Yet he is true to form. Public opinion has no place on constitutional matters by him. And this is not a constitutional issue. They have simply ignored any such pressure before and will do so again.

Since this is a "republic"an supreme court. They simply will stay out of it. If it's not in the constitution they don't have to rule either way. Just ignore it.

This is the difference between the "letter of the law" and the "spirit of the law".

As to Congress. What a laugh. They can't agree to anything. And by the time they would, it would be all over.

@DeWayfarer I suspect you are correct. The path then is for Congress to pass the Sunshine in the Courtroom Act of 2023, that I added to my OP via edit.

@JSul3 you didn't read the last paragraph.

They can't agree to anything!!!

They are too busy fighting each other with the house against the Senate.

@DeWayfarer Oh, I did. When folks like Alan Dershowitz write OpEds saying he thinks it should be televised, and others, as well as the recent uptick in letters being sent to those in Congress, it may well sway opinion.

I posted the AD opinion piece on this thread. The Sunshine in the Courtroom Act is real and was crafted with bipartisan support. If enough folks contact their elected officials perhaps it would become law.

@JSul3 the extremists by far out number the more reasonable.

True bipartisanship just does not exist in this Congress and why very little gets done.

Of course it's real, it only takes two congressman to sponsor a bill to be called bipartisan. That's not even a small minority.

Such bills are sponsored and kicked about by the thousands.

In the end they are ignored by the majority.

@DeWayfarer Yes.
Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today introduced the Sunshine in the Courtroom Act of 2023 to allow the public further transparency into the judicial system by allowing television cameras in federal courtrooms.Mar 16, 2023

@JSul3 correct! And who are they in politics?

Name a real congressman like Adam Schiff and Mitch McConnell. Opposite parties as well as two different congress types (House and Senate)

Until such a thing happens there will be deadlock! Nothing happening!

I do admit Klobuchar has some standing, yet not enough to matter.
JSul3 · 70-79
@DeWayfarer Give the Democrats a House majority and a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and you will see progress in governance.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@JSul3 no kidding! 😆

Now do it or you're just joking! 🤷🏻‍♂️
JSul3 · 70-79
@DeWayfarer I vote.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@JSul3 so do I! Yet there is still only a 45% voting turnout! And that's one of the best in decades.
JSul3 · 70-79
@DeWayfarer Sad....am in Texas which leads the nation in voter apathy.

@JSul3 I know Texas. Lived in San Antonio for almost six years.
