Columbia County Undersheriff OK To Preach In Uniform

Columbia County Undersheriff Robbie Patterson did not break departmental policy or violate the Constitution by speaking publicly about his religious and political beliefs while in uniform, according to Sheriff Joe Helm and county Prosecuting Attorney C. Dale Slack.

Their response comes less than a week after the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office received a letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation arguing Patterson’s sermons had been given in his official capacity as undersheriff and had violated the Constitution’s establishment clause, which bars the government from favoring one religion over another.

Worth noting that Columbia County, is part of the Washington State 5th Congressional district, represented by Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the only Republican from WA State, who did not vote to impeach Trump.

Police should not be religious. In their private and home lives sure no problem but keep religion out of police, we don't need it militarized.
