@therighttothink50 AJ Cronin is yet another author one doesn't come across a public library often now. Personally, The Citadel had more of influence on me. It surprised me just now that there was so little time between the books been written and the movies been made.
I loved the book The Great Gatsby, and the film with Leonardo DiCaprio really was wonderful. (I did enjoy the original too , with Robert Redford). And my favorite book that was also a great movie, was The Lord Of the Rings. Wow they did a SUPERB job making that a movie :)
@Baybreeze The very first film adaptation of The Great Gatsby was a 1926 silent drama directed by Herbert Brenon. Me too, I love the three movies that were based on Tolkien's masterpiece though. I saw them each time in a movie theater, plus they allowed anyone to gain access to the wonderful thoughts within Tolkien's mind without the struggle that comes from reading his writing. Gandulf riding to the rescue!
@Baybreeze both of the Gatsbys were fantastic. I reread the book every so often and Redford is stuck in my mind as Gatsby. Bruce Dern as well as Tom Buchanan
