I Am Creative
Ever since I learned that the black letters on a page means names and words, I have almost been continuously creative.
I love to write - it's sort of a therapy for me. I will be content to read every once in a while during any given day, but my own best stories come out of my head and my imagination, coupled with daily life experiences and things I have read and retained in my memory bank.
People who don't like to read or write can't understand mu burning desire to become a published author. "Well, why don't you just SEND it?" I am continually asked.
This is not as simplistic as it sounds. Publishing and authorship has changed a good deal since the days of Margaret Mitchell and Harper Lee. Even an inquiry nowadays requires money...a good deal...several thousand dollars, which I really don't have right now. People who have the means to put me into print want a great amount of money, just to LOOK at anything. And if they return my material to me, is there any guarantee I will get my money back? No.
People who don't share my burning ambition to put stories down on paper (or on a computer screen) make a good audience for an article or book. They are usually lavish in their thoughts and praise, but I would dearly love to write and get paid for what I think or make up. THAT would really make my world complete.
