I researched my Irish Gaelic Surmame…

Using the site Gusman found..

1,478,479th
Most Common
surname in the World
Approximately 143 people bear this surname

MOST PREVALENT IN:
Wales
HIGHEST DENSITY IN:
Wales

I would have thought it would be most common in Eire but apparently not.
But there are many variations from the original root.

Two folk on here know what it is.

...fascinating.

Ditto.

The root derivation path, it makes sense.
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Certainly around Cork..I’m very surprised
Anyway there are almost 1.5 million surnames more common than mine 🥹

Why are you surprised?

That's special because it is rarer, so it's cooler IMO :)))
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON As my great grandad and his brothers came from Cork ( and I established when trying to do the family tree that the name was common in the 19th century) you would have thought it would survive.
There must be Touhig’s in Ireland.
@TheSirfurryanimalWales That is my logical estimation of this situation dear, as you said; native derivations.

It really IS so bloody exciting :D !!!
Oh. I can just see you making a trip to Éire, meeting your kin, sharing a cider or pint, tea and humour.

I just get so excited imagining THIS :))))) 🤩🥳👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻❤
