TEMPORARY FUNFAIR AT PORTHCAWL

The Welsh Government recently purchased the Coney Beach Amusement Park and closed it down, the land will be developed for new housing however there is a temporary Amusement Park at the Salt Marsh Carpark Porthcawl until April 12th if anyone's intetested.

I have a tinge of sadness about the whole business I have so many childhood memories about Porthcawl I think the Authorities should of left Porthcawl as it was, there's a big campaign group who are angry about what's happened maybe I should join them.

I've been here for a few days, it's strange without Coney Beach.
They put on a fireworks display last night, plenty of people turned up despite the cold wind.
Plenty still about today, a few parasurfers in the sea this morning.
I've been coming here since yhe 70's, and despite never spending a lot of time at the fair, it will certainly be different.

@Mindfulness It'll be very strange from now on, this fair won't be permanent they'll go to where they can earn the most, maybe they'll find a permanent site the whole business saddens me, My Late Parents had a Caravan in Trecco Bay great times there, I liked Sandy Bay as well we knew families who had second homes on Trecco Bay and Sandy Bay.

I can't help thinking how mean and spiteful this has been closing Sandy Bay and Coney Beach Amusement Park, there's boulders placed on the side road leading to the Coney Beach now stopping carparking it gets meaner and meaner. I'm busy otherwise I would be popping down Porthcawl and see these horrible changes instead of seeing pictures on the Internet. My happy memories of Porthcawl will stay with me for ever, thought for the day - Wales premier holiday resort has been distroyed by Politicans.
@senghenydd It's not just the fairground, everything passed the High Tide has closed down. It's very sad.
It was scruffy and needed updating, but it had been like that for as long as I can remember, that was part of its charm.

@Mindfulness Sandy Bay was a nice caravan park thousands of Welsh people enjoyed Sandy Bay along with Trecco Bay, sadly Sandy Bay was closed down, ordinary people like myself couldn't understand why, the intention all the time was sell the area off for housing Coney Beach Amusement Park was obviously planned for Development as well.

I've seen so many of Porthcawl's holiday attractions disappear what a shame, yes it could of been tidied up, I'm quite sure there wouldn't of been many objections from the Traders but no they were lead into a trap.

I wonder what the asking prices will be for these new houses shocking no doubt, not for ordinary people, Porthcawl will be for the Well-Heeled, still it's not all bad at least Trecco Bay Caravan park has survived, I remember it years before it was properly developed when it had massive Sand dunes, I have a few photographs they would make you laugh.
