What's wrong with the Celts today?

Past criticism of Frank Delaney's "The Celts" series and book were that it is way too overly romanticized, prejudiced, and lacks scholarly rigor, reflecting the biases of its 1987 production era and Delaney's own potentially arrogant presentation style. These critics noted that the series and book focused too heavily on the modern Celtic world and that its focus on prehistoric Celts was cursory. Some even found the series' presentation self-indulgent and found it failed to capture the depth of Celtic culture.

Personally, however, I prefer Frank Delaney's series on the Celts to any of the following ones just because of its in-depth and accessible coverage of Celtic history, culture, and mythology, combined with a compelling narrative that avoids the dry academic prose. I appreciate this rather more authentic Celtic perspective even more because of Delaney's wide collection of Welsh and Irish legends which are a really good intro into the colorful, bizarre world of Celtic legends itself. Buy the dvd-series and discover this yourself...
