What about atheists from Ireland?

@alan20 why would you celebrate it if you don’t believe in God

@MonaMartinez86 If there's a pint of Porter in it we'll celebrate anything.

@alan20 but you don’t believe in God, why would, you celebrate something, you don’t believe in?

@MonaMartinez86 A less flippant answer :- As a child i was brought up as a Catholic and for a time was a very conscientious one. I gradually started to see flaws and all kinds of hypocrisies. When my wife became pregnant I felt the need to make a decision. I had long talks with two priests and concluded that their interest was proselytising , not searching for the truth. When I kept questioning I was told "Pray for faith", i.e. self-indoctrinate. Catholic schools had made my youth a misery. I rejected the concept of guilt based on phoney ideals which were unnatural. "God is love" from people who were conspicuously short of it, etc. So I made my decision and brought my son up accordingly but in the knowledge that he's free to make his own judgements. I don't pretend to understand "the meaning of life" but have nothing in common with those who think they do and quote the Bible. I've some pleasant memories of childhood : I once believed in fairies when my father put his hand inside the trunk of an apple tree and they gave him a bar of chocolate for me. I'd drink to that too!
