The Sanctity of a Nation
In a world that is so divided where aggressive policies followed by aggressive actions toward other nations have commandeered peaceful resolutions. Resolutions that would preserve the sanctity of a nation. As in the case of Ukraine and in Israel. Both leaders have through their actions have negated any chance of meaningful peaceful resolutions to their conflict.
In Ukraine as in Israel through past and current actions by both leaders may have inadvertently unleashed reprisals from their neighboring nations. Today as it is in the United States all around the world the tempo of life has accelerated in such a fashion it leaves little room for peaceful co-exitance.
The failure of leadership is mostly to blame. The divisiveness within nations are a direct result of leaders who fail to understand the concept of true leadership. In many cases by virtue of obtaining power and control of a nation are corrupted by the allure of great wealth they can obtain. The United States is no exception. Our political system is ripe in corruption by the amount of wealth it takes to mount a political campaign. And once elected the gravy train of lobbyists who continue to rob the public and funnel so much cash to elected officials is the root of many of this nation's crises.
The leaders the United States has had for the past 50 years have been increasingly become more indifferent to the real needs of our nation. As a result, the kind of leadership we have had haven't bridge the gaps and great divides in our nation. The deterioration of standards in education, moral integrity, and empathy has manifested our nation incapable of providing the kind of leadership this nation had those 50 years ago.
When over 70% of our population has witnessed the erosion of economic opportunities, financial stability, along with an acceleration of daily violence has destabilized our nation. The lack of moral responsibility of leadership has promoted what we are seeing today around the world. With all the scientific, technological and medical advances of today no one should have to suffer what millions around the world are going through right now.
Yet, the misery for millions is overwhelming. There are ways to ease the suffering, but it takes the kind of leadership not seen in the United States in over a half a century to make it happen. Instead, we continue to elect leaders who constituently defer any action that would actually unite this nation.
There is a quote by Octavia Butler, and it is quite profound but none the less very meaningful to the times of today. " Chose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery." This sums up what we have done in the past and if we aren't careful this coming November this most profound quote will hold true.
