I bet they can't tell the difference between Bach and Tchaikovsky either, and those two were a lot more separated in time than the Beatles and the Monkees!
Which leads to the interesting question: can they tell the difference between Bach and the Monkees?
(And I am sure I would appear equally dense listening to music of some cultures with which I am unfamiliar.)

Beatles, Monkees, Stones…if your ear’s not tuned to Western music it’s probably all noise. 🙁
