A rare albino squirrel
was spotted in the Carshalton and Wallington area of south London on Monday. I've heard it said that there's only one chance out of one hundred thousand to come across one.
Britain's wild squirrel population consists of an estimated 287,000 native red squirrels and roughly 2.7 million invasive North American grey squirrels.
The traditionally agreed figure for the UK is estimated to be around 25 to 50 true albino squirrels, although local trackers and researchers suggest the actual number may be higher.
