If it's anything like all the other porn bans, it's still easily available and widely accessible.
Doesn't there come a point when you have to ask "What is the point???"
I mean, I get it if you're going to make it harder to access illegal materia - but the only thing being done is a "Gotcha" moment when they catch four or five breaking the law.
The way things are going, the only porn left to watch will be your grandparents at it on the dining table.

I think there is a thin line between violent and consensual aggressive... but this might make it harder to access but I doubt it will stop it.
Also, will they stop TV shows and books and other forms of media?
Like game on thrones had rape implied...

@sstronaut No... they have freedom for artistic storytelling - so those rape scenes are fine, despite the fact that they can be worse than some of the porn you have to make a conscious effort to seek out.
@HootyTheNightOwl I think that's where the problem is, making an artistic exception for some but not others... creates an imbalance.
I think the door needs to be all the way open or all the way shut... the middle of the road options just lead to more issues. And more interesting in it, with them figuring out how to just barely go over the line to make it legal and it's still there and doesn't go away.
Also you run into the issue of banning something can make it more popular, which USA ran into with prohibition banning alcohol... alcohol just became more and more and more popular after that ...

@sstronaut The thing with porn is that a lot of survivors of rape and abuse tend to use it as part of their healing journey - so, how many of these future "convicts" are just going to be souls trying to heal and desensitise themselves from whatever they went through???
As far as pushing porn underground goes... I actually fear that banning x,y and z might just create a scenario whereby the very things they ban will become more of a fetish in real life. So, I don't see what they stand to gain from it - and I need help with that.
I mean, sure... it gets it off a few screens - but we all have access to VPN's, so how many will just route their viewing pleasure through a VPN instead???
What about the likes of Google??? There's still deplorable porn available on there that was "banned" in 2002 - and the odd wave of convictions... but it's still accessible by typing in a couple of keywords.
Are we supposed to just go to being a state like North Korea or China where you can only look at what the Government says is acceptable???

VPN use has increased 50% since age verification was required in UK to access any porn.
It’s a good way to collect data, won’t have any effect on what people view.

A joke. It just means that the banned stuff will move underground, the police will go after people, lives will be ruined. In the"olden days" porn wasn't soft, it was just hidden and encouraged criminals to be involved in it. But Britain has a LONG history of being a Nanny State, from what I've seen.
