These poor people were obviously killed. Why is the British media covering it up? Don't the families of the victims deserve the truth?

How is it obvious to you? Did you kill them? That would certainly explain your obsession with this. Does it hurt to put all that effort into it and then watch the police dismiss it as their own doing?

Stop speculating on things you know nothing about.
Whever wrote that stuff quoted clearly knows nothing about water safety or the accident rate. He is just mindlessly speculating and you are merely repeating it without thinking. Those two photographs were obviously staged but used there from unknown sources; and the cyclist appears to be in a river, not a canal.
There are a huge number of canals, rivers and lakes with public access to their banks in some of the England's most populous areas; the canals' tow-paths are narrow, especially under bridges, and all are open as public footpaths. So it's not very surprising that there a small number of drownings in them - including of people jumping into cold, opaque water to cool off in very hot weather.
Even wasit-deep water is still deep enough to drown in if you are hit by cold shock and panic worsened if you don't know the nature of the water body into which you have leapt; you are knocked out by strking your head on something, or are incapacitated by drink or drugs.
These are all tragedies; but the proportion with suspicious circumstances is very small.
Murder generally is not a common crime in the UK; most murders take place in homes and streets and most murderers leave the body there.
That stuff you repeated there is callous rubbish by an ignorant sensationalist with no respect for the bereaved familes, and you are as bad by repeating it. Your sentence starting "RIP to... " shows your lack of respect to them by its hypocracy.
