Taking Prep To Prevent HIV

I've thought for a while the NHS was letting the British people down I don't live in a run-down area however nearly half my street have HIV/AIDS they are either being supported by Kidney machines or will be expecting to be using a Kidney machine shortly, I have been trying to look into this and see PrEP is freely available in the United States all the patient has to do is go and see their Doctor in fact PrEP is available in nine States California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Mexico,New York, Oklahoma, Virginia and lastly Washington over the counter in Chemists.

I am shocked but not too surprised the United Kingdom is trailing behind in stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS we are a far poorer country than the United States, maybe we should concentrate less on foreign aid and more supporting our health Service and protecting our young people from catching HIV/AIDS so far the UK is losing the battle.

The less people catching HIV/AIDS the less the burden on our NHS.

According to aidsmap [1] it's available in NHS sexual health clinics free of charge.

The HIV prevention drug pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is available from NHS sexual health clinics. This is the case in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Previously, access to PrEP in England was limited to the number of places available on a clinical trial. This is no longer the case: PrEP is available to everyone who needs it, in almost all NHS sexual health clinics, throughout the country.

There is more current information on the i-base website [2] where it also lists NHS and other official websites:
Getting oral and injectable PrEP in the UK

Oral PrEP is now available free from sexual health clinics across the UK. It can also still be bought online.

These sites have more information, including on how to find a sexual health clinic by postcode.

@ninalanyon I'm very surprised to hear this as I've been told it's not available, a relative told me she wasn't able to obtain PrEP

My last visit to the Health Centre the Doctor mentioned he wouldn't allow me to have PrEP bear in mind I never asked for PrEP

Half my street have this problem it's a ipidemic where I live, I only hope your right, what you have produced looks good on paper I have my doubts I only hope it's available, my neighbours having their lives impaired by this illness is upsetting.

I looked at the web page you provided and will pass on that information to my relative I'm sure she will benefit from that information.
