Id treat this as a scam .if it was true he would first ring the police as he would get a crime reference. Then he'd call his insurance and give everything over to them to deal with .

@HollowayRoadN19 It would rather depend on how they behave but I'd ask him to leave the papers, photographs etc. with me so I can contact my insurers... Knowing he has no such evidence.

(I would contact the Police, of course.)
