Prince Andrew Is No More

King Charles III has begun the process of stripping his brother of all royal titles and his residence. This is the consequence of Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor's unwillingness to be open about his relationship and behaviour around the convicted sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein. The UK part of this awful abuse scandal is clear and actions have been taken. There still seems to be some ambivalence (to understate it, perhaps) in the USA towards those with privilege who may also have been associated with the abuser.

The Andrew situation has me confused. Though his conduct was hardly exemplary, wasn't the lady involved over legal age in the UK at the time and as far as he knew totally willing? Or is there more I haven't heard about? And wasn't he the royal who in his youth dated soft porn actresses, etc.?

@ChipmunkErnie The allegation is that she was under age and there is no doubt that he led a 'fun' life when he was younger. However, the Royal Family has history with sex scandals going back centuries, like all the Upper Class.

@FreddieUK She was 17 from what I read, and 16 is legal age in the UK. But, being in the USA, we tend to think our laws have to apply everywhere.

@ChipmunkErnie thanks for the clarification.

@FreddieUK That's the story I read, but maybe there's more or different info now? And it only related to the one lawsuit.

@ChipmunkErnie I think the outrage is the way in which young women were lured into unwanted sex with rich and powerful men and that Mr Mountbatton Windsor was part of that degenerate circle.
@ChipmunkErnie But she was also 17 when she was alleged to have had sex with Andrew in New York. And unless I'm wrong, that's illegal.

@JimboSaturn Hadn't heard anything about that, but was it him or his lawyers in response to her multi-million dollar/pound lawsuit? Lawyers tend to fight dirty, particularly when the money involved is over $10,000,000. And if I remember right, at the time she had sex with him I saw one report that she was paid over $10,000? There are just so many stories out there I just don't know what to believe. :(

@ChipmunkErnie It was a new scandalous aspect to what got us to this point: Andrew asked his Police security officer to investigate her quietly. We do not know whether it happened, but the intention is clear.

@FreddieUK Not to pay 12,000,000 pounds?

@ChipmunkErnie Or worse
