Should the British go back to wearing bright red in battle?

These days, when everyone wears camp gear, it looks truly ridiculous. But, there was a good reason why armies of that era worse bright colours.

In the days of cannons and muskets, battlefields were very noisy and foggy. Also, battles were fought in lines and at relatively close range. Apart from the light infantry (proto-snipers) nobody used woodland terrain as cover. You needed bright colours to know where your own troops are so you could keep solid formation in all of the chaos.
