Thank you for the heart. As it happens I have friends in the North-West and do visit the area from time to time.
I don't try to rate regions in a supposedly-qualitative "better/worse" way because that is not only merely subjective, but ignores understanding them. However, we can't ignore aesthetic taste, and some of my favourite landscape spots in the North-West are the Three Peaks and intervening dales, the Lune Valley just before and including the Crook Of Lune, and the Eden Valley.
If simply travelling through it I think the best view of the last is from the Settle-Carlisle Railway, though I did find a vantage-point on foot near Appleby-in-Westmorland, giving a lovely view of the glacial hanging-valleys along that stretch.
