Is there anyone else here who's from Halychyna or whose family is from Halychyna?

Both my mom and dad's family are from Halychyna in Ukraine.

My dad's family is from Kydantsi in Ternopil and my mom's family is from Chornyy Ostriv and Bryntsi-Zahirni in the Lviv region.

My dad's family was actually in the Halychyna division in WWII.

My mom's family are over embellishers but they say they're Cossacks. The last name does support that though. That and the fact they traded horses and even ran a horse farm here in New York.

@emiliya I don't know honestly. I just found this out recently lol. Their reason was because they wanted to fight the Russians.

My great grandfather's brother was in the Austro-Hungarian army. So I wasn't too surprised. I actually have a family portrait, where his bother is wearing his Hussar uniform.

Where did your dad's family surrender? If it were Ukraine, Red Army would have got them.

It was a good place. Then Reagan doublecrossed the USSR and Ukraine was attacked and almost destroyed.
