Lviv in the war

As of late March 2026, Lviv remains a crucial, relatively functioning wartime hub in western Ukraine, despite facing increased danger from Russian air attacks. Recent drone strikes have hit the UNESCO-listed historic center, causing damage to significant landmarks like the 17th-century St. Andrew’s Church. The city continues to host many internally displaced people, diplomatic missions, and IT businesses.

Current Situation in Lviv:

Despite being far from the front lines, Lviv is not immune to direct strikes, with attacks involving drones and missiles targeting infrastructure.

Daily life continues, with shops, restaurants, and public transport operating. However, residents face intermittent power outages due to attacks.

Known as a safe haven and cultural center, the city is actively protecting its historical architectural treasures (Renaissance, Baroque) during the ongoing conflict.

While a sense of "normalcy" is attempted, the city is under the shadow of the ongoing war, with frequent air sirens and a curfew in effect.
