I want to settle down but the future is too uncertain here /=

My husband and I have several projects going now, and I think we'll be able to buy land and build a house in 2 to 5 years time, but settling down in Ukraine is a complete gamble now. I think world war is likely to come within 5 years time, and we have to consider things like if Russia will nuke Ukraine to push EU countries, instead of nuking those countries directly. I totally see something like that happening eventually. It wouldn't land here, but that crap gets everywhere and could easily poison us too, it literally depends which way the wind is blowing lol. It's not a big deal yet, but I bet things will be just as uncertain years from now, and it bothers me that I can't make plans. There is this fruit orchard that my husband and I used to visit with the dog every day, before conscription went rampant, and I really want to buy it because it became such a familiar place to us, I almost feel like it's ours already. I would hate to leave Ukraine after all these years, but it might be necessary at some point. I don't have a future in my home country, we could never earn enough money there to lead a nice life like we can in Ukraine. Anyways please don't respond with politics to my post (many people on SW tend to do that for some reason). I'm just ranting about my inability to plan my future here, now that I feel so at home here. 💔 /=

Why build and destroy good land for planting or destroy an ecosystem or a wilderness habitats.

Buy place already built. I thought this world was about going green and conserving natural resources.

Buy 1000 acre farm, 15 acre farm or something. There are are buildings dying for people to live in.

My home is was built in the 1780s and came with 265 acres of land

@HumanEarth I want to live in a nice house, if I bought a house I would have to renovate it to the point we might as well build our own, so why would I do that? I am not gonna build a house in an ecosystem or wilderness habitat! 🤣

That works to. Tear down old and build new. That makes me happy.

No need to destroy perfectly good soil for a building when there billions of empty run farm homes that you just scoop up the land for less 50 bucks an acre sometimes

@SinlessOnslaught Why does he think we have a billion farms? People here grow produce in their backyards instead of having lawns, and that's where all the produce on the market comes from. Their cows, chicken, and goats just roam the streets, they don't have farms. Why does this person think I want to destroy land, why this he make this up in his mind? And then tell me lies about my own area? He sounds very crazy to me, I don't want to talk to someone like that.

@Nightwings Yes you're right, it's much different in Ukraine because of the war and also just inherent differences. My friend here misunderstood you, they didn't mean any harm. 🫂

@SinlessOnslaught You mean different from his own country? Why would he tell me how it is in own country when he is telling me what he wants me to do in my country of residence though? He was clearly telling me that he didn't want me to build a house here in my area, because that's what I wrote that I want to do.

@Nightwings It's not well known here that other countries work differently. I do understand your frustration though. You're talking about nukes and conscription and people still just assume everything is as easy or has as many options as in the US. It's frustrating. 🫂
