Strong arm robbery?

Can someone explain why the US is demanding that Ukraine give us billions of dollars in mineral rights, as part of a peace plan between Russia and Ukraine? What does Ukraine get out of this? Sounds like strong arm robbery to me.

It's good for Ukraine and the US.
The US will be obligated to defend the country of our mineral rights .

@Virgo79 after the recent trump-vance clown display those mineral rights for US are as unlikely as trump ever telling the truth

@Virgo79 "Our" country? Which country? The mineral rights are Ukraine's whoever buys the metals and by whatever deal. The Ukranians should be the ones to benefit financially from those rights.

It is now obvious that the recent meeting between US and its ally russia were to form a modern von Ribbentrop-Molotov pact.

america allows russia to seize Ukraine and then US and america share the spoils.

@newjaninev2 A frightening thought. Let's all hope that was not in fact the case.
