@ArtieKat That was a promise made to Russia that if it let the Warsaw pact collapse NATO would not expand. Do try to learn some history for once in your life. There is no benefit for Ukraine to be a part of NATO but not Russia. If you know your history you will know that Russia asked twice to become a member of NATO. The US wouldn't have it because it needs an enemy to feed its military industrial complex that has become as corrupt as Ukraine.

Not sure your reasoning but you can't answer the simple question "Why is Ukraine joining NATO so important that 500,000 Ukrainians have to die in the effort to allow them to join. Consider that had Ukraine not tried to join NATO there would be no deaths. Ukraine and Russia shared a peaceful border.
