The Stolen Children of Ukraine...

I've posted before about Russia's motivation in the escalation of it's Ukraine invasion this year. The invasion began in 2014 and was dramatically increased in February of this year.

Russia's claims about security needs and de-Nazification are demonstrably false. This is a war about resources like any other. But with a twist...

Sure Ukraine has oil and gas reserves, but so does Russia and more than it needs. So it's not that. What resources could Russia be after here???

As I've previously written here on SW, what Russia is after is human resources. Russia faces a demographic crisis like no other nation on earth faces today. It's population is in collapse.

Since the war escalation in February, Russia has taken from Ukraine and deported to Russia over 1.4 million Ukrainian citizens. And those millions aren't just being sent across the border. No, they are being sent as far east as Siberia to work in camps and to become "Russian".

As awful as that is ... and make no mistake: that action alone is a war crime ... the far worse side to this story is that many of these kidnapped Ukrainians are children.

The Ukrainian government (with western help) is attempting to track all of this movement of people through the fog of war but it is difficult. I want to focus now on one small part of this issue:

- Ukrainian children with living family in Ukraine who have been taken to Russia and "adopted" illegally into Russia families.

That very specific group so far has over 13,000 members with multiple tens of thousands more waiting confirmation of their illegal Russian adoption to be added to this list.

Think about that for a moment...

In addition to stealing household appliances and money and food, the Russian army is quite literally stealing children.

This is state-sponsored human trafficking on a scale never before seen on Earth.

Support Ukraine in this conflict. And when you hear calls to allow "the people" of this oblast or that oblast to vote to be part of Russia or Ukraine... remember that Russia has removed over 1.4 million voting Ukrainians from those areas. There can be no referendum until the invaders are out and the citizens are returned to their homes.

I am aware of this....sadly the law means nothing in a war...especially to Russia.
There are Ukrainian vloggers, one of whom posts every day,who include such things in their broadcasts.I urge people to watch them to see how the ordinary Ukrainian is coping during this.
Some of these kids will,no doubt, never return to Ukraine.Sadly.
I note our friends district of Kyiv suffered a drone attack yesterday.
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Who is the vlogger? I would watch.
@JustGoneNow Anna from Ukraine..(Anna Danylchuk)who also has a series 'Soviet Myths debunked.'
She has been vlogging since February and has become quite famous.
Also a University lecturer in Lutsk and journalist.
