Kiril probably doesn't even know it's happening. Or if he does will, like Putin, claim the reports are Western lies. Either way he will not care.

How did he survive the USSR to become Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church? He was one of the ROC's representatives to the World Council of Churches, and reported it and any other potentially useful information about it and its people, to the KGB.

@ArishMell he sits on the right hand of putin... and quite enjoys the experience.

@Yulianna Indeed. He know what's good for him in his position, and the two have been supporting each other since Putin became President.

Sometimes I wonder what Putin would do if Kiril turned round one day and decided to become a Christian in word and deed instead of just title and litany.

@ArishMell novochuk and a new patriarch...

@Yulianna If they murder him, it would risk turning him into a martyr not in the interests of Putin and his gang.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@ArishMell he would be assassinated by Ukrainian special forces... obviously.

@Yulianna Not so obviously.

Kiril is as evil as Putin, but being murdered by Ukraine would play straight into Putin's hands, and make him a martyr within Russia.

It would be better if his own priests and congregations started to see him for what he is.

@ArishMell i meant, putin would have him killed and then make him a martyr by accusing Ukraine... that is the "obviously".

just as we are now apparently responsible for blowing up the nordstream gas pipelines.

there is a Shakespearean element to putin's cynicism.

@Yulianna I see what you mean. Yes, that might be possible.
