The War In Ukraine

You know it really saddens me to see what is going on in Ukraine in this day and age and once again the world is letting it happen . Why is it that when the US or UK governments create war in other countries in defence of that countries so called freedom for example iraque or afghanistan then they go in all guns blazing and leave a mess far worse than than was before they went in . Now a country actually asks no begs for their help they wont even provide air support even though the whole of europe would act as well if the UK or the US would lead the charge . Their all saying it would cause world war 3 but really would it .
Putin maybe be mad or just a hell of a strategist but he knows full well if he hit the button it would be all over in a matter of hours and he wouldnt be alive to tell the tale . He has relied on his bluster to hold the world at bay and hollow threats , to allow him to maim and murder while the world watches . I hate the man but you have to admire the fact that he took a gamble and its paying off . He must be grinning ear to ear and thinking what a bunch of idiots world leaders are . Such a sad state of affairs when one man holds the world to ransom because no one has got the balls to put their head above the parapit and make the first move .

They are trying to find a balance that lets Ukraine defend itself without going into direct conflict. Do you really want nuclear powers in a shooting war with each other? Particularly if you can get the job done without having to?
I think the west has been tardy and a day late from the very beginning.....but then so was Zelinsky. He didn't believe the Russians would actually invade again.
If Putin invades an Article 5 country there will be direct war, Russia would get what is left of her conventional forces destroyed at which point all bets would be off. Not a doubt in my mind he would go nuclear.
If the US was getting its lunch handed to them by the Russians I would expect we would do the same thing. The best we could hope for is he would be overthrown before it came to that.
If Putin doesn't blink or isn't removed an awful lot of people are going to die. I just hope we can make sure it is the west that climbs up out of that rubble for all of mankind.

@bowman81 They might but it will be the end of ukraine . I just dont think allowing 1000s of people to die including women and children is okay . Put yourself in their shoes , how would you feel if the world stood and watched while your home was destroyed and your family and friends murdered when their actions could have stopped it all and their excuse was well its ok for your countrymen to be wiped out as long as it doesnt start world war 3 . Your telling me you would be okay with that ? I know for a fact I wouldnt and it would make me bloody angry knowing the world was willing to sacrifice me just to make sure it didnt impact them .

Every time they did that in the course of history , they fucked up a country somewhere and killed millions of innocent including children so far.

Let us not forget iraq where they killed over 2 million civilians
Destroyed the country
didn’t even let baby food in
Over an “assumption “

And the best they did to justify it was trump saying it was a “huge mistake “
And Not a heinous crime which what it was

His country has just defaulted on overeign debt just today (for the second time after 1918), Russian supply chain is beyond f*cked (just look at the tantrums they're throwing at Lithuania), the Russian army looks more like a parade organized by a museum than an actual army, this while NATO is expanding its rapid response units +750%; his wealthiest customers are moving away from the products he sells, and his strongest "ally" is just waiting for him to be even weaker and force his hand into signing land concessions.

Yet people somehow still feel like he's a "mastermind".

He’s got Nukes. He’s a nutcase. And we have weak leadership in the west. These same weak leaders are allowing the extreme government in Iran to have them too. Same thing will happen. Sorry Ukraine but better you than me.

I’m not interested in getting Nuked so some guy on the internet feels good.
