The Plight of a Turkey

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that more than 46 million turkeys are killed and eaten in the United States on Thanksgiving Day each year.

Here are some other facts about turkeys and Thanksgiving:
Factory farming:
99.8% of turkeys killed for Thanksgiving spend their entire lives in factory farms, never seeing their mothers or experiencing the warmth of a nest.

Compassionate alternatives
You can celebrate Thanksgiving in a more compassionate way by adopting a turkey instead of eating one.

Never eaten turkey. When I was little the neighbours had them as pets, and I felt sorry for them as they were nice birds, but very ugly. I cant bring myself to eating them or ducks.
