The Plight of a Turkey

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that more than 46 million turkeys are killed and eaten in the United States on Thanksgiving Day each year.

Here are some other facts about turkeys and Thanksgiving:
Factory farming:
99.8% of turkeys killed for Thanksgiving spend their entire lives in factory farms, never seeing their mothers or experiencing the warmth of a nest.

Compassionate alternatives
You can celebrate Thanksgiving in a more compassionate way by adopting a turkey instead of eating one.

@sarabee1995 first report on your CrossFit performance of 2 days ago and then we can talk about your turkeys.

Not hearing from you in 48 hours, I presume it was all hot air 🌬
sarabee1995 · 26-30, FVIP
@Stephie Hahaha, sorry! I did not know that a report was requested.

So I've been following Kiwi's CrossFit posts for quite some time. And, yes, I'm in decent physical shape myself. But I've never claimed to be able to follow her regimen.

So, her CrossFit workout of a few days ago involved three sets of 12 HSPUs (Hand Stand Push Ups). You and I discussed and I said I'd done them in the past but not a dozen at one time (never mind three sets of 12).

So, the next morning (yesterday) I did try. I think my prior record was eight or nine, but this time I had a goal and a challenge (hugely motivating things for me). I did complete (with great difficulty) one set of twelve, but my arms were done after that.

And I feel compelled to admit that by strict definitions (which CrossFit lunatics usually go by) my twelve wouldn't count because I "rested" my arms at full vertical after the 10th and 11th push ups. 🤷‍♀

I bow to Kiwi's obvious superiority here. That would be a workout from hell and she does them all the time.

@sarabee1995 Hey, I am proud of you nevertheless because I know I could not do even half of them.

So, I lost my bet. Do you accept cryptocurencies? I have Bitcoins and Ethereum. Just give me your wallet number and I shall make the transfer. Thanks ☺

@Stephie Before I can claim the win and my 7.1 cents, we need to wait until Kiwi chimes in. I've known a few CrossFit lunatics (and I say that in the most loving way) and they would DQ me for staying in that handstand with locked elbows to rest my muscles. Usually these CF workouts require non-stop. 🤷‍♀

@sarabee1995 DQ like in Dairy Queen? I would not mind one of those now 🍦
sarabee1995 · 26-30, FVIP
@Stephie Hahaha ... me too! I haven't been to a Dairy Queen in forever. There aren't many around here.

I used to love their Blizzards. I think they had one (maybe still do??) with chunks of brownies in chocolate soft serve. 😋
Stephie · 22-25, F
@sarabee1995 Closest DQ for me would probably be in... Boston 😱 Makes it kind of expensive. I used to buy one of those banana boats with all the shebang near Appleton, WI. Enough calories to feed an entire family.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, FVIP
@Stephie Well, as long as you don't indulge too often a high-calorie treat is okay. Just run a few extra miles the next day! ;)
Stephie · 22-25, F
@sarabee1995 Nah, you know me. Not more than 1 DQ a day.

My motto: A DQ a day keeps the thirst away.

I used to complete the DQ with an ice cream made in a local parlor called "Death by Chocolate". A real calorie b**b.

(I am not spelling the word out by fear to be on the wanted or no fly list)
sarabee1995 · 26-30, FVIP
@Stephie Lol, not more than one a day, huh? You should be fine then! ;)
Stephie · 22-25, F
@sarabee1995 I make sure that there is no DQ franchise in the UK otherwise, I cannot guarantee anything...

@sarabee1995 No THEY are not. They have haggis 🍖

@sarabee1995 I saved you one......

@sarabee1995 Yeah...claim the win. I have been known to rest like that. You can also rest Kettle Bells at the top of a swing 🤣

Our CrossFit is not fanatical or strict and most exercises have scaled down versions of most of the harder difficult exercises.

@KiwiBird You have no idea how disappointed I am about your confession.

I had put you on a pedestal, high up and me looking up at the poster of you I placed above my bed every single morning after waking up.

This is the person I wanted to be and now, your confession to @sarabee1995 is just shattering everything.

You may not earn praise tomorrow 😒
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Stephie I certainly couldn't complete the full hardest versions of every exercise when I first started CrossFit over three years ago. Now I can and do.....most of the time.

Praise is only a salad dressing after all. 😁
Stephie · 22-25, F
@KiwiBird What would a salad taste without a dressing.

You have earned my praise in all those months more than just once and I do it not because to blur something out but because I sincerely believe you DO deserve it. I know how strenuous this CrossFit is and how much of your time and energy you invest into it.

@Stephie @KiwiBird
I had put you on a pedestal, high up and me looking up at the poster of you I placed above my bed

I was always told that the only reason to put a woman or a girl on a pedestal is to look up her skirt. 🤗
Stephie · 22-25, F
@ArtieKat You honestly don't expect @KiwiBird to do CrossFit in a skirt do you? She has not Scottish blood running through her veins, at least not since 36 years 👗
sarabee1995 · 26-30, FVIP
@KiwiBird I'm glad to hear your CrossFit group is not as fanatical as some. Certainly you know the groups of which I speak, right? I've come across a few with whom I would not want to workout!!!
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 We try and have fun....but yes I know exactly what you are saying.
