Being in a naked ballet is titillating to tourists but since 1988 public nudity has been legal in Spain 🇪🇸

Public nudity has been legal in Spain since 1988. Anyone can walk naked down a street without being arrested, but some regions such as Valladolid and Barcelona have introduced their own laws to regulate nudism, especially away from the beach. You’re not supposed to walk in to a public building, like a courtroom naked, but it’s an acceptable thing as long as it’s not sexual. Yes, this definition could be open to interpretation by some authorities as if you get an erection it can be termed as sexual.

Our being naked on stage, and males in the group getting erections isn’t under the definition that can cause public outrage, only if we had sex on stage could we cause such outrage and anger and be liable under public decency laws. In some ways in our ballets we push at this boundary as often as we can, bearing in mind local police can accrue perceived offences and use them all in a court indictment against us. We are careful but we push the boundaries.

I remember the bars at the beach in Torremolinos in 1984. Obviously we were there too soon!
