The El Raval quarter is a truly cosmopolitan part of the city, made up of nearly 50 per cent emigres, mainly from South America. More recently, it has attracted a large number of Eastern Europeans, taking advantage of the access through the European 🇪🇺 Union. Once considered a dangerous area, frequented by criminals and prostitutes, it was often referred to erroneously as’Chinatown’, despite not being inhabited by a Chinese community. Today, El Raval has the Museum of Contemporary Art and a plethora of restaurants and bars on its main streets.
We, Dora and I, have an extensive apartment which her father bought for her, since she chose to live and be based here rather than somewhere like the Riviera, and we are up high, no one above us, we have the ‘penthouse’ apartment which was in the past two apartments and lots of space, a premium in this part of Barcelona.
