TWO HAGGIS SCALE THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING TO SETTLE THE GREAT WHISKY DEBATE
New York officials have been left scratching their heads after two wild Highland haggis, who still seem to be in America, were spotted scaling the lightning spire at the very top of the Empire State Building before unfurling a giant flag carrying a message aimed squarely at the world's whisky drinkers.
The pair were filmed scrambling effortlessly around the summit before somehow securing a traffic cone to the very tip of the famous spire.
With the cone safely in place, the haggis hoisted a huge black flag featuring a bottle of Scotch whisky alongside the now viral slogan,
"Real whisky doesn't have an E in it."
Emergency services briefly considered retrieving the pair, but quickly abandoned the idea after one officer reportedly remarked, "If they've climbed all the way up there carrying a traffic cone and a flag, they're probably better climbers than we are."
Within minutes, the display had sparked fierce debate online, with Scots applauding the message while Americans insisted the extra "e" wasn't going anywhere.
A spokesperson for the Empire State Building refused to comment on the spelling dispute but confirmed staff were "looking into how a traffic cone ended up on top of one of the world's most famous buildings."
The haggis themselves vanished before anyone could reach the summit, leaving behind nothing more than tiny paw prints, a perfectly positioned cone... and yet another reminder to America of the correct spelling of whisky.
