Israeli settlers set fire to a hill with agricultural land in Taybeh, a Christian-majority town east of Ramallah in the central West Bank, the town’s mayor announced today.
Taybeh is one of the few Palestinian towns in the West Bank that still has a Christian majority, according to church and local accounts. Residents say the town’s historical Christian presence dates back thousands of years.
In recent months, the town has seen a series of settler attacks, including fires set around the historic al-Khader Church, assaults on residents’ property and racist graffiti, local officials said.
Pray for Father Bashar, Christ the Redeemer Parish, and the Totah family as they try to help their neighbors seek refuge from Israeli attacks today.
The position in the West Bank is dire. According to Medical Aid for Palestinians. there have been 870 attacks this year on villagers there. Ambulances are prevented getting through. and medical sid workers are being continuously intimidated by armed insurgent settlers.
@peterlee Is that an afterthought? It's on occupied lands, plus do you want a deputy mayor of Jerusalem claim that there are no Christians living in Judea next?
