Point of order

Perhaps I'm naive but I do believe in discussion. Earlier on I've posted here on SW my views on a current event where I thought that needed a better insight. It was about the risk of all out war for a regime change in Iran. The argument against of mine was that there's still no-one really in existance to take over. I thought that it was indeed an obvious counter-argument. Of course, some took the opportunity to link that issue with the ongoing ulcer of what's happening to the Palestinians in Gaza.

Lets go through it here then. I'll take just the one reply and try to focus on the issues yet again without paying any attention to the insults:

"Greater Israel" is the new blood libel promoted by antisemites. Israel has a population of around 10 million, 20% of which aren't even Jewish. They don't have enough people to occupy "Greater Israel," even if they wanted to. Stop repeating old Soviet propaganda that the Iranian regime is pushing.

*Greater Israel (Hebrew: ארץ ישראל השלמה, Eretz Yisrael HaShlema) is an expression with several different biblical and political meanings over time. It is often used, in an irredentist fashion, to refer to the historic or desired borders of Israel.

*Annexation of Judea and Samaria to Israel or rather existing proposals for the political annexation of the territories of Judea and Samaria occupied in 1967 to the borders of the State of Israel as found also on Wiki in Hebrew:

"The annexation of Judea and Samaria to Israel has been proposed many times since the region was occupied by Israel in the Six-Day War in 1967. Over the years, various proposals have been made for their annexation to the State of Israel, in whole or in part (Area C, or parts of it as the map included shows). Some of the plans to annex Judea and Samaria to the State of Israel are related to the one-state solution and some are related to the ideology of the complete Land of Israel ...

According to the rules of international law and Ottoman land law, land is held by the sovereign, even when the sovereign is the occupier. This means that the burden of proof lies with the person claiming ownership of the land. After the State of Israel locates uncultivated land in Judea and Samaria that is not registered as belonging to anyone, it declares it state land. The declaration is made through a “Government Property Order ” issued by the Civil Administration in which the residents of the area are notified that the land is becoming state land. The order gives those who wish to appeal on the grounds that the land is theirs the opportunity to appeal within 45 days before an appeals committee. Most appeals are rejected."

Applying sovereignty to Judea and Samaria will result, of course, in the absorption of 2.7 million more Arabs into Israel. But even on the actual number of Arabs living in Judea and Samaria there are disputes. Yoram Ettinger estimated that at the end of 2015, the number of Palestinian residents in Judea and Samaria was only 1.75 million. Moreover, according to Jacob Feitelson in 2022, who also relied on Yoram Ettinger, the Arab population in Judea and Samaria numbered at most 1,757,690. Well, those numbers perhaps don't point to any correct number either to have a much easier management of the Arab population in Judea and Samaria under direct rule from Jerusalem, but it definitely points to a clear intention to do so.
