The largest-amplitude arrival so far was seen on the Chatham Islands, 51cm, at 6:17am this morning.

The largest mainland arrival was 31cm at Gisborne at 8:20am.

Hope all are safe. Even 51cm could potentially cause damage.

I must apologize for my comment yesterday when you mentioned the tsunami as I did not watch the news and thought it was a joke. Mea culpa!

@Stephie Storm waves are higher than half a metre....so potential damage extremely unlikely. Risk averse warnings seem to be very prevalent these days even in day to day weather forecasts.
