I Am Dutch

Last weekend the event 'tegenwindfietsen' was held. I live close to the coast, and there is wind here most of the time. When I head to go to school as a kid, we had to battle the winds. The English Youtuber Tom Scott made this little documentary. This was filmed only 5 miles from my house.

I'm not Dutch. But I greatly enjoyed a two week vacation in Amsterdam a few years ago.

I went there as part of a self created treatment for my then phobia of the Netherlands and Dutch people. My vacation cured me. The Dutch I met were all very kind people and they also have a great sense of humor. I thank them for helping me recover. Now I no longer fear the Dutch.
@greenmountaingal Why did you have a phobia for Dutch people in the first place?

@Thewhazzupdude I had a very bad Dutch psychotherapist during my very unhappy childhood. She encouraged my mother to hit me often. She did all she could to make me feel hopeless about my life. She criticized and ridiculed me for my fears and problems. She often told me that "where I come from they would beat you with a stick." So I guess I thought of Dutch people as child abusers.

@Thewhazzupdude If you read my Featured story (under my Profile) you will see why the last thing I needed in my childhood was an unsympathetic psychotherapist.
@greenmountaingal That is horrible, plain horrible!
