Baby boomers whined about war and pollution, sexism and poverty and went to work, "changing the system from within".
Did it help?

Probably not - though I don't divide humanity into artificial categories like "baby boomers".

Different problems may be, but it's noticeable that those who waffle about wanting to "change the system" rarely define which "system" they wish to change, nor convincingly explain their obviously practical, sensible alternative!

"Obviously" to them, of course, not the rest of us: such words are useful debate-stoppers. .

'Twas ever thus, I think....
@ArishMell we said the capitalist system. So you don't hear it.

Your original question's supporting remarks only mention so-called "baby boomers" wanting to change an un-specified system, and not why, nor to what.

I didn't "hear" it because you did not mention any particular "system"! :-)

Also, I am puzzled what your poll asks.

The first option is two unconnected statements; one about the environment, the other a blatant attack on the American government.

The second has nothing to do with the first, states the USA has no woman President (as we all know) then adds Mexico has one of whom "we" are "unaware" - a self-contradiction if ever there is one. Though I accept that country's domestic politics may receive little or no news coverage where you live.

What are you actually asking?
@ArishMell we said capitalist system all during the sixties. Context is the taboo for murkans. You never history and you are not reachable. NATO will simply kill us all and yes you will be complacent.

@Roundandroundwego Ah, but saying so in the 1960 does not explain a non-specific statement made 60 years later!

Are Americans really told little history, even of their own country, never mind the world, then? I have encountered hints of that elsewhere.
@ArishMell you just insist on not connecting reality to the remarks. Understand history - no, that's Marxist. Your country does not understand history and kills Marxists. Really.

@Roundandroundwego I am not American so I do admit I would not understand American history and politics as you do.

So, why would understanding history be regarded as "Marxist"? Assuming those who allege that, actually know anything about Marxist systems, of course. How can they, if they think it wrong to know history?

I have noticed some of the more vitriolic political posts on SW like to fling words like "Marxist" around for the slightest reason; but that is in arguments sinking into emotion, prejudice and insult-trading, not comprehension, analysis and concession.
