Storms rarely cross over the equator. It is known as the doldrums because a ship can get stuck in it for days or weeks as there may be limited or no wind. It is a very interesting place.

Amazing. Most of them are concentrated on a belt around the equator with a parallel band on the Southern hemisphere while Europe does not see them.
