Is there a federal database of land claims in the US & other developed countries?

To my understanding, you kinda just have to figure out who has the deed, and if that's the case... why don't we have a database?

Public records is the best you're going to get in the United States. And now days you have to pay for those same public records.

There is no federal property ownership records. See City and county seats only. Pretty certain there is also nothing on the state levels.

On the federal level it's because of state's rights. The states really don't want to pay for that kind of record keeping so it falls on the counties and cities.
