@Classified I fear that was on purpose; he plays dumb and funny but isn't dumb, he managed to stay in power like 20 years, literally creating a cult around himself. 🙈 The problem is that people believed whatever he said without the slightest sense of criticism or doubt, which now is happening in other countries too and it hurts to see just as much (and now we're paying the bill of some of his politics as well, look at our debt) 😬

@Classified Oh my, yeah that debate turned extremely toxic as well 😬 the good thing about the U.S. being a federation is that they can handle this kind of stuff centrally (thinking of the money go brrr meme), over here unfortunately it takes eons to reach an agreement and at the end nobody will be happy.
Another problem here is also that the term "ESM" (/"MES") has been extremely politicized, to the point that two of the most prominent populist parties even falsely accused Conte of activating it back in April (who debunked them on public TV, calling them by name) so if we'll go for that route I fear we'll end up with either one or them both leading the next elections. And I'm not sure the current govt. would survive until the natural end of the term, if that'll happen. And aside from that, a lot of people fear Troika / another Greece scenario, so whoever decides to resort on ESM will be greatly penalized, in terms of support/votes.
I've no idea where the opposition plans to take out the money, probably like pretty much always they have nothing better to propose. 🙈

The European Stability Mechanism. Essentially something designed for a geographically limited and much smaller financial crisis potentially caused by something wrong in the country itself, not a pandemic affecting more or less intensely the entire Europe/world. 🙈

That sounds like a good mechanism if it works 😅
That did work though. Let your own currency devaluate so everything would be cheap compared to other nations and hence you'd attract tourists. 😋
