Rome, gunfire on the street in Valle Aurelia: a 53-year-old man injured; investigation underway.
Shots were fired yesterday around midnight on Via di Valle Aurelia, Rome. The victim, a 53-year-old man already known to law enforcement, was shot in the foot. Emergency personnel rushed the victim to the emergency room at the Gemelli Hospital, where he is currently hospitalized and his life is not in danger.
Investigations to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible are underway by the Carabinieri of the Rome Madonna del Riposo Station and the Operations Unit of the Rome San Pietro Company. Technical-scientific assessments at the scene of the injury were conducted by the Rome Investigative Unit. According to an initial reconstruction, the man was injured when he came out of his home by an unknown assailant who was waiting for him in the darkness and then fled. The Carabinieri of the Rome Mobile Radio Unit were the first to respond, immediately launching searches throughout the area and setting up checkpoints.
