Our family dynamic!

I’m often surprised by how so many people on here have dreadful family relationships with their parents often some kind of villain in their lives. It’s astounding really because in Italy 🇮🇹 families are more closely linked and socially the nuclear family is very relevant.

Our family is interdependent and we do rely on extended family to support our efforts in family matters.

My family was never the nuclear family of yours.

Dad disappeared long before I can remember. I've only seen him a handful of times. One memorable one was watching him being lead from the dock screaming obscenities at the court, the police, us, everyone.

Mum had her demons which I inherited too. She couldn't not put drugs ahead of anything else most of the time.

I grew up mostly in care and a succession of foster families I hated because they had exactly what you've experienced and I truly wanted that but fought against any offer as it was never her.

Family is VERY important. Society seems to have lost sight of that value

It's an old left-wing idea, that the state is better able to raise kids than parents can.

If course, the left's ulterior motive is perfectly obvious.
