I love the area around Lake Garda : so extensive you could be by the sea, surrounded by ancient and quaint towns - each of them quite unique in character. The boat trip across from one to the other is inexpensive and a joy in itself. For a vegetarian the cuisine is ideal. Venice is amazing but increasingly over-crowded: the various islands in the Venuto lagoon have a lot to offer.
