How did Rome go from being one of the most impressive empires ever to Italy being a 3rd rate military power?

Coppercoil · M
Look at england.. so many fall to this law of size, wealth, expansion, and ultimate collapse throughout history. Empires always fall. The u.s. is in the process of its collapse to a more sustainable and less aggressive and militaristic posture and presence around the world. Im no u.s. hater by any means, its just whats happening. Very similar to Romes History. The shared parallels are uncanny.

They'd rather eat gelato and paint naked people.
@HannibalAteMeOut At the same time?

We've evolved as a society; at some point you're no longer a youngster and you leave those trivial things like being the world's top military power to the little ones oversea. Similarly, will you still care about having the largest Hot Wheels collection when you're 20?

Meanwhile, we've focused on those aspects more appropriate for an adult civilization, such as being the world's first (and undisputed) spaghetti power 🍝
@Elessar I break my spaghetti before I put it in the pot. How does that make you feel? 😂

I'll leave the translation of "traditore della patria" as an exercise

When a city has more slaves than citizens there’s going to be trouble.

I think the short version is they pissed off everyone some much over 4 centuries that they united everyone in their mutual hatred of Rome.

Kinda like what’s going on right now…

The last thing I find impressive about any country is military power, lol
@SW-User Is that what you tell all the boys? 😛

Lol sorta. I couldn't care less @Ozymandiaz
