The mistake Hamas made is believing Israel valued the lives of their fellow citizens. They would sacrifice a million jews just to have that land.

Hamas doesn't have a military mindset. They should have planted IEDs all along the border between Gaza and Israel. There should have been no hostage to begin with. Hamas doesn't understand how evil Israel is. These people executed their own citizens in the Hannibal directive. They don't give a flip about hostages.

Neither you nor I are rabbis or imams. It's like trying to practice law without law school. Kinda iffy.

I would venture to guess that a rabbi might say that saving lives is the most important precedence. if that means breaking a commandment then you should.

@pancakeslam I think you missed the point. No one is talking about anyone going anywhere. The state of Israel could cease to exist tonight and everyone living there could stay exactly where they are. It is the system of government we are talking about not the people. If in the entire region everyone was given one vote and no religion dominated in a form of true democracy.
