I Love Israel

I just got back from going on a Birthright trip to Israel. Birthright (Taglit), if you don’t know, is a free trip to Israel for young adults of Jewish descent. In my group we had 25 people age 22-26, plus 7 Israeli soldiers who joined us. I actually turned 22 on the last day of our trip. I had the option to go with either a 18-22 group or a 22-26 group, I figured the older group would be more enjoyable.

I had truly an amazing time. I left feeling a lot more connected to my own Jewishness and to the land of Israel. I especially loved Jerusalem, such a beautiful city with so much history. It was such a cool experience to be in a place where Jews aren’t a minority, but the majority. I learned a lot about Jewish history, what it means to be a Jew, and I had some great and enlightening conversations with the IDF soldiers. One thing they wanted us to take back with us is the fact that Israel is not the dangerous place that the media often portrays it to be; Israel is actually quite safe, I definitely felt safe everywhere we went. Overall it was an awesome trip and I’m so glad I went

I've always wanted to go there. My son was over there for six months to support their military. He said it was awesome. He said Jerusalem was a beautiful place also.
