@JimboSaturn well you have to teach children something - there's no such thing as zero ideology... it's just that you're not aware of the ideology that you're teaching: materialism, capitalism, whatever it is.

@TradEmily Most humans are born with the basic golden rule. You can teach children morality, decency, humanism. These things are not dependant on religion, all people in the world naturally have this.

@TradEmily Many cultures have ethical codes that developed independently of religion, and human empathy, fairness, and cooperation have evolutionary and social roots. For example, secular societies like Sweden or Japan tend to have lower crime rates and strong moral norms despite being largely non-religious. So no, you don't have to teach anything.
